We are Children of God

These are the words from my favorite children’s song, “I Am a Child of God“:

I am a child of God, and He has sent me here, 

Has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear.

Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way.

Teach me all that I must do to live with him someday.

The story goes that the author, Naomi Randall, originally wrote “teach me all that I must know” but the prophet asked that she change it to “teach me all that I must do”–it’s not enough to say we know Christ; we must follow Him. After all, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
